Our History

It started in 1941, when brothers Emilio and George Bonduki founded a distributor of yarns and threads, near 25 de março St., traditional wholesale center of Sao Paulo. In the late 50's, Emílio installed a small thread manufacturer in Brás neighborhood, also in São Paulo. Some time later, a yarn twisting plant for knitting and weaving was implanted in Americana city, in the state. Thus, Linhas Bonfio S/A, the old Bonduki Bonfio, started its path, and today has over 350 employees in its four units, having more than 5 thousand customers in Brazil and exported to 14 countries. With the growth of the unit in Americana, the especial yarns for knitting, the cotton thread for sewing and polyester spun threads were launched. But it was with the textured yarn for overlock sewing that Bonfio became the leader of this segment, a position maintained until today.
In 1989, with the purchase of Tintoria S/A, at the time, one of the leaders in manufacturing embroidering threads, the Bonduki Bonfio, then, consolidated all manufacturing operations into a new building in Americana.
In 1996, after the opening of the market for the textile industry, the company consolidated its succession process and initiated a major program of professionalization and modernization of its industrial area, with the support of BNDES. As a result, production increased by 35% the following year. Three years later the company acquired the Stilbene yarn dyeing company in Itaquaquecetuba and in 2003 set up a new unit of twisting in Três Lagoas - MS, completing the verticalization process.
In 2005, more recently, it became the exclusive distributor of DMC products in Brazil. Products of the highest quality, turned to the market hand embroidering, DMC threads have been manufactured in France, for more than 250 years. Also in 2005, the company signed a joint venture with U.S. Company American & Efird (A&E), one of the world leaders in manufacturing threads. This new alliance assured capital and technology supply for Bonduki Bonfio, transforming it into Linhas Bonfio S/A. As a result of this partnership, Bonfio has launched innovative products based on advanced technology of A&E, and D-Core and Perma-Core core spun; anti-flame, Nomex threads, and the Neon Plus thread, for the jeans market.
With this new impulse, associated with the dedication example, work and ethics of our founder, Bonfio has prepared to be one of the leading companies in the Latin America thread market.
